Message from Bruce Jewett, Director of Job and Family Services
Since
the advent of welfare reform, a decade ago, The Work Place, Butler
County’s Department of Job and Family Services, has adopted
a new name, a new mission and vision,
and a new commitment to helping families in Butler County take
control of – and improve the quality of – their lives.
Cash assistance
caseloads have remained at historically low levels, new community
partnerships have bolstered the range of supportive services we
have been able to offer families, and the creativity of our staff
and elected officials has resulted in the development and implementation
of numerous innovative programs.
But, as our
mission statement clearly pronounces,
what we are really about is empowering families and helping them
to not only transition off welfare, but create new opportunities
for themselves.
Whether a
family seeks food stamps at our Middletown office, health insurance
for their children at our Hamilton office, employment training
at our Training and Education Center or job-seeking assistance
through our Job Center, we pledge they will find a sympathetic
ear, a helping hand and a competent ally as they try to create
a better future for themselves.
It is our
sincere hope that this web site will help you better understand
the services we provide, how you can access them, and learn something
about other community resources that might be of use to you.
