Regional Cooperation Initiative
The Butler Board of Commissioners are planning to meet with elected officials in the near future to discuss opportunities where cities, townships and villages may be able to share resources with the county to increase efficiency and save money.
While the federal government’s economic stimulus package calls for additional spending, local governments are still plagued with state budget reductions and apathy for changes in the local tax rates. A discussion about changes to local government is timely due to the condition of the local and national economies.
In this tough economic climate, it is more important than ever to look at creative and innovative ways to save taxpayer dollars. We would be doing our citizens an injustice if we did not look at many different ways to increase efficiency and save money. |
