The marriage records are on open shelves and may be accessed directly by the researcher. A staff member or volunteer can assist in making copies.
The Archives has all of the marriage records from 1803 through 2000. [Later records are housed in the marriage license bureau of the Probate Court located in the County Courthouse.] Researchers not familiar with the indexing system should request assistance from a staff member or volunteer researcher.
Please note: Parents' names were not listed on the marriage records until 1894. But, if either of the parties was a minor, the staff may be able to locate the application which will usually list one of the parents. The earliest applications begin in 1847.
