Scholarship Applications Available for Veterans
(HAMILTON, Ohio)--- The Michael J. Colligan Fund of the Hamilton Community Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from Butler County veterans who wish to continue their education. Applications are available on the Foundation’s website – www.hamiltonfoundation.org. The deadline to apply is April 25, 2008.
Michael J. Colligan, a retired funeral director, passed away in 1994. He left a fund at the Hamilton Community Foundation to provide scholarships to Butler County Veterans who wish to return to school. In 2007, sixteen scholarships in the amount of $36,000 were awarded to area Veterans attending various universities.
The Foundation was founded in 1951 as a tax-exempt public charity to receive, manage and distribute gifts for the improvement of the community. Currently the Foundation manages almost $80 million in assets.
The Hamilton Community Foundation is a public charity committed to improving the quality of life for the greater Hamilton, Ohio community and its residents. Founded in 1951 with one $5,000 fund, the Foundation now manages charitable assets exceeding $80 million and holds more than 470 charitable funds. It is the tenth-largest community foundation in the state of Ohio.
