Hon. Eva D. Kessler
Judge Kessler graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in November 1973. In 1975, she opened a law office in Hamilton, Ohio. From 1975-1991, she maintained a general law practice with emphasis on family law issues, collections, small business matters and wills. In 1978 Judge Kessler was employed as an assistant attorney general for the State of Ohio for mental commitments. In 1979 she was named an assistant prosecuting attorney for Butler County, Ohio and she helped form the first Child Support Enforcement Unit for Butler County. In 1984, Judge Kessler was appointed as a Referee for the Domestic Relations and Juvenile Courts by the late Hon. David Black. In 1987, she was appointed as a Magistrate by the Hon. Leslie Spillane, Domestic Relations Court.
Judge Kessler served as the first Executive Director for the Butler County Bar Association, 1979-1980 and she was instrumental in starting the Settlement Week programs in the Common Pleas Courts, General Division, Butler County, Ohio in the 1980’s. This program has evolved into a year round mediation program for the court system. Judge Kessler was a founding member of the Ohio Magistrate’s Association. Judge Kessler is currently the 12 th District Trustee of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association, a member of the Butler County Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the Association of Domestic Relations Judges.
